What you are and are not buying
Will this get my site cited by ChatGPT or Perplexity? We do not know, and neither does anyone selling that. llms.txt is a proposal some assistants read and others ignore. Monitor tells you whether the file is a valid llms.txt, how it scores on our quality checks, and whether a named user-agent fetched it. That is the entire claim.
How is the file graded? Two verdicts, never blended. Spec validity is valid or invalid, from the five E-rules: the file exists at its path, is served as text, has an H1, its file-list lines are well formed, and it is not an HTML page. Quality is a 0–100 grade from the five W-rules, Studio's recommendations rather than requirements: blockquote summary, H2 sections, dead links, more than 200 links, duplicate URLs. Information rules (robots.txt blocks, llms-full.txt, file age, describedby discovery, markdown links, external links) are reported and change neither verdict. Checked against llmstxt.org v2 (August 10, 2026). Every rule and deduction.
What page do I land on after paying? Straight onto the monitoring page for the domain you were setting up, with a “Subscription active” banner. If you haven't proven you control the domain yet, the verification card (a DNS TXT record or a meta tag, plus a “Check now” button) is the first thing on that page — monitoring starts the moment verification passes. If Stripe sends you back a second or two before we've received its confirmation, the page shows “Confirming your payment…” and updates itself; you don't need to refresh.
How do I get my monitoring updates? Three ways. First, an alert email whenever a weekly check finds something worth knowing: the file is missing, the grade dropped, a link died, your site drifted away from the file, the file itself changed (the email shows the lines that differ), or a documented AI crawler fetched your canary link. You get at most one alert email a day; several findings are bundled into it. Second, a monthly report that lists what we checked even if nothing changed, so you can see the checks are running. Third, your dashboard, where every check, diff and crawler fetch is kept and where the “Regenerate now” button lives.
Which email address do alerts go to? The email on your llms.txt Studio account — the one you signed up with, or your Google account if you used “Continue with Google”. Stripe receipts go to the same address; the email field on the payment page is fixed to it. Change it any time under Account.
What does the canary prove? That something requesting with a given User-Agent string followed a link that exists only in your llms.txt. User-Agent strings are self-declared and can be faked, so a match is evidence, not identity. No hits means no hits on that link; it says nothing about whether the file was read another way.
What happens when I cancel? Checks stop at the end of the paid period. Your domains, runs and fetch log stay readable for 90 days, then they are deleted. Failed payments get a 7-day grace period with an email before anything pauses.
Can I monitor a domain I do not own? No. Monitoring needs a DNS TXT record or a meta tag on the home page. The free tools have no such check because they change nothing on your site.
